Welcome to Riverboat Rod's Home Page, the meticulous builder of scaled down models of the traditional paddle steamers that once plied, and some still do, ply the inland rivers of Australia.

Rod's shop is currently located in the main street of Wentworth, NSW, on the junction of the Murray and Darling rivers, across the road from the Essential Energy, corner shop.
This is where Rod has his exhibition of the model paddle steamers, along with all sorts of other interesting photos, paintings, memorabilia, and also has heaps of printed documentation on the subject.
Entry is free and a gold coin donation would be muchly appreciated to help Rod cover the printing costs of the information pamphlets with detailed descriptions of each steamer, that are also available.

At least five hundred hours of work can be spent on building a completed model to match as closely as possible the exact standards of the original design.

Rod also has been building up a series of individual paddle steamers, like the PS Marion, as she has had different make-overs during her service. As a matter of fact the PS Marion has recently been restored and is still taking on passengers mainly for tours of the Lower Murray River.

Rod is currently building another addition to the series of PS Ruby, where she is currently located and in service at Wentworth, NSW on the junction of the Murray and Darling Rivers, which is a sister ship of the PS Marion, that were originally built at the port of Morgan in South Australia, along with a third sister ship, called PS Gem, where she is currently on display and located on site in the Historic Tourist Village at Swan Hill, Victoria.
